Clinical Hypnotherapy...
Who may use hypnotherapy?
Anyone with a genuine desire to improve his or her livelihood can benefit greatly from hypnotherapy. Many are drawn to hypnotherapy because ones concerns can be dealt with in a very respectful and non-invasive manner. The experience is often described as deeply relaxing and calming to the soul.
How does hypnotherapy work?
By using hypnosis as a way of accessing the subconscious mind we learn about ones limitations, poor habits, and negative thoughts that create obstacles preventing one from being the person one truly wants to be. Using a holistic approach these obstacles will be removed completely from the subconscious mind allowing one to be on a positive path toward becoming ones ideal self.
Are suggestions provided?
No. By dealing with the obstacles created by ones limitations, poor habits, and negative thoughts directly suggestions are not necessary.
Is hypnotherapy approved by a well known association?
Yes, the American Medical Association first approved and accepted hypnotherapy as a therapeutic tool in 1958.
Is a license needed to practice hypnotherapy?
Currently there is no federal agency regulating hypnotherapy so licensing decisions are left up to individual states. Thus far the state of California has chosen not to require licensing for hypnotherapy or regulate it. In order for one to practice one needs to attend an accredited institution and meet all of the institutions guidelines for certification including a minimum of 300 clinical hours.
Can I see a hypnotherapist if I am also seeing a medical doctor?
Yes. Please continue to follow your doctors' instructions including taking any prescribed medications. Hypnotherapy can complement your medical regimen and it is possible that your medications can be reduced in the future. If you wish to reduce, change, or stop your medications please consult your doctor.
